Linux Installation Insturctions.
Update!
It looks like someone was able to install linux on thier Vaio SRX87. Now I don't know if I need to go to the effort of duplicating that effort, considering that I am relativly happy with things the way things are. I'll probably give it a try sometime in the future.
Update!
In 2003, I installed RedHat 9 on the srx87 with little problems. Some of the hardware is not detected, and the USB kernel module gives a stream of errors.
Hardware Notes
Sony VAIO PCG-SRX87
- Step 1: Try to install as normal with latest RedHat Distro (8.0). This failed. The installer was unable to find the FireWire CD-ROM, although it would boot off of the CD-ROM.
- Next, I tried copying the installer files onto the harddrive. This failed. The installer was unable to find the drivers for the hard drive.
- Now, I need to go find the appropriate drivers for the hard drive.
