Thermodynamics is like, hard.

Ever notice how our lifestyle in the 21st century is pretty much last century’s science fiction, except for the stuff about transport? Thermodynamics is like, hard.

Anyway, even if anti-gravity was discovered tomorrow, most of the world would probably still run on fossil fuels for the next fifty years.

Quote

“Yeah, well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.”

Was reading a discussion about an article, and one comment (from someone who disagreed with the article) was simply that quote from The Big Lebowski. I laughed out loud. I should use that one more often.

The sweet meat dreams of me

“Agashiel,” Pat [Sajak] began and did his best to sound friendly and at ease. “I am told you are the psycho-physical manifestation of human nightmares. You must not get a lot of sleep.”

The grotesque flesh-marionettes of the studio audience erupted with a shrill and uneven staccato of laughter.

“You make your residence in the ephemeral substance of slumbering fear and as long as at least one human is paralyzed with terror you will always have a home to return to.”

A susurration of confluent rivers of paranoia, horror, and despair emerged from Agashiel’s rictus mask and formed a prickling approximation of English.

“The sweet meat dreams of me.” Agashiel intoned. “Dreams of me.”

He reached out as though to caress Pat Sajak’s face but the host was wise enough to pull away. The audience laughed even more enthusiastically than before.

unless they are, in fact, made of Swiss cheese

“No way I’m calling anyone ‘Father’ or ‘Your Holiness’ unless they are, in fact, my father or made of Swiss cheese.”

“You should always call people what they wish to be called…I get to choose what you call me.” —

“Yes, but in some cases, isn’t that tacitly agreeing to participate in a political system you may find distateful? Why should Prince Harry get treated to more fawning nomenclature (‘Your Royal Highness…’) than Rosa Parks?”

English is so versatile…

English is so versatile, no wonder it will replace all other languages within a century. Yeah, English!

Because of its profane status and versatility, the word “fuck” can be used many times in an English sentence. For example,

  • “Fucking fuck those fucking fuckers!” (“Forget about those very disliked people.”)
  • “Fucking fucker’s fucking fucked!” (“It is broken.”)

The latter example excellently demonstrates the versitility of the word fuck, as each instance represents a different syntactical usage: an article, a noun, a present participle (to is), and an adjective.
