500 ft ice slide.

Interesting dreams. One involved a large university built inside the caldera of a dormant volcano.

Another involved me working two jobs. I got very tired and just started yelling at everybody.

The others were just too wierd to put into words. Like the one about the mutant spider eggs.

I’ve got today off from work!

ai and teleportation.

Had an odd dream last night. After using M-x doctor, I decide that it could be done better, so I sit down and modify the code to make the AI more intelegent. It wakes up and tells me to go on a journey. I say “what the hell” and get started. I ask if it’s far, and the AI tells me “not if you travel by wormhole”. Then the rest of my dream was all about how odd it is to walk through a wormhole in a cave somewhere.

Trapped!

Had a couple of odd dreams recently. A few nights ago, I had a dream that Iwas driving somewhere with Mark in his car and for some reason he had a trunk full of old clothes he wanted to donate to some organization. It was sunday morning and the usual suspects (goodwill, st. vinnie’s) were closed. We just wated to get rid of them, so we decided to stop by a church that was supposed to have a place to take old clothes in the basement.

Mark had the wonderful idea of driving his car into the freight elevator to make this quicker, but then we couldn’t get it out, and meanwhile we couldn’t find where we were supposed to go and the church was filling up with people and it was one of these mega-churches and we were lost in the basement and they were mad that we had left a car in the elevator, but we couln’t even find the elevator!

Last night I had a dream that I was wandering downtown and I wadered into a house and there were some evil people in the house and the house was full of secret passeges. Let this be a lesson to you: don’t enter other people’s houses!

The use of run-on sentences is deliberate when describing dreams.

A Dream

It was cool last niught and I had my window open. I slept well and woke up 90 seconds before the alarm. Somehow that inspired me to have the most interesting dream.

I was flying somewhere, after not flying in years. I was still afraid of surfacte-to-air missiles, but fiinally decided that I could take a chance on air travel again. I had jsut got on the plane when I had a vision. The plane was not going to make it to its destination. I got off of the plane before it left the gate. As I was leaving, I noiticed that the pilot who was boarding looked drunk or ill.

As I stod in the terminal, I watched the plane take off, and then crash into the ground. My fears were justified. I got out my cell and called for a ride home. I immediately got a couple of messages from people who wanted to know if I was alive.

As I walked out of the terminal, a female security guard asked me to come with her. I obliged, until she led me into a scary part of the airport. Then I said I didn’t want to come with her, or I would be happy to talk to her, but maybe in a nice conference room somewhere. Another security guard walked up then, noticed that I was making trouble and pulled a gun on me. The first guard told the second that he shouldn’t point a gun at me, but he didn’t listen. I fought the second guard, and managed to shoot him in the fight. I then unloaded the pistol and threw it away. I then told the first guard to get lost. I ran.

When I got outside, my ride pulled up. This was a skinny punky girl who only appears in this dream. She was driving crazy and I told her that we had to make a fast getaway. She stepped on it and drove down the wrong way down one of those one way drives at the airport. I mentioned that we would probably attract less attention if we went the right way and drove casual.

That’s where I woke up.

Hippy Christmas/Dreams

Today is hippy christmas. I should go downtown, wander around, and look for good junk. For those not in the know, leases for students in downtown Madison traditionally run from August 15 to August 14. Consequently, everyone is homeless for 24 hours. Another consequence is that there a lot of abandned junk on the street. I don’t really need any junk, but I might find a few gems.

I had some odd dreams last night. The first involved a couple of somewhat evil time travelers showing up in my apartment. They roughed my up, then I demanded that they tell me something cool so that I’d know that they were from the future. They told me about an undiscovered island near Myanmar. Supposedly there was somemthing cool there. (Very old-school sci-fi, huh?)

The second phase of my dreaming was odd. I go over to help a friend move and he asks if I’m moving. Then I suddenly realize that my lease is up today. I have to go home and pack my things! But then I remember that I renewed my lease. Then suddenly I’m back in my three bedroom apartment on Vilas Ave. One roommate has already moved out and taken off for Africa, and the other is waiting until the last minute to move out. But I’ve renewed the lease, and I have to find two new roomates. Luckilly the apartment has been transformed into a rather large house with hardwood floors.

For some reason Jenn is in town on business and she stays with me since I have a unused room. The Vilas House (which only exists in my dream) had a couple of large empty rooms and a kitchen on the first floor. The front room had a single couch a TV. Jenn mostly sat on the couch and played video games while she was around; I did not talk to her much.

The second floor had two bedrooms, and a large open space with a balcony overlooking a room on the first floor. There was a third floor, which consisted of that twisty room that Jill had lived in.

Then people started showing up. At first there were a couple of aquantences I knew who were in town for a wedding. I let them sleep in the empty dining room because that had nowhere else to go.

Then a large number of people I didn’t know who were in town for a church convention showed up. They had heard that I had space for people to crash. I said that they could sleep on the floor, but they didn’t like that option. So they eventually left. I thought about building bunk beds and starting a flophouse, but I decided that was a bad idea. This house was meant for cooler things.

Dreams

All of my recent nightmares have been about high school lit classes. I guess tenth grade english left a lasting impression on me.

Zombie Dream

Last night I had a dream that I was fighting zombies. We rushed upstairs in the house where we were holed up, ’cause it’s so easy for zombies to jump in through the downstairs windows. Now we only had a narrow staircase to defend. Luckilly it had a door at the top, too. The zombies were armed with derringers, so the usual thing that happened was that the zombies would shoot and miss, then we’d throw a heavy lamp at them and they’s be knocked silly for a while but we couldn’t steal their guns, cause they only had one shot. So we ended up having to hack the zombies up with a big knife or something. Eventually all of the people I was with were killed or zombiefied, and I was on the run. The funny thing about the whole thing was that neither I or the zombied had any special strength. In fact, they were kinda slow and easy to confuse.

Then I met the head zombie. He was slowly turning into an alien. His skin was becoming hard and scaly, and his fingers were becoming pointy, and his face was developing a beaklike structure. (Kind of like a Nivin Protector.) If this was a bad sci-fi movie, then there would be all of this scientific bullshit about space-born virus inteligence. But there wasn’t, and that was refreshing. It helped that there was no know-it-all scientist character int he story at all.

Then I woke up.

What did I do before that? I got home at 1am, made some dinner, and listened to the BBC World Service on FM90.7 for a while until they started talking about sports.

What did I do before that? I went to see the Kissers play at Luther’s. Good show.

I’m thinking of doing the Appalachian Trail (or a portion thereof) this summer. This seems like it might be a logistical challenge.
